New Information for Calls to Mexico
Important Changes:
1) New number sequence required when placing a call to a mobile device (011+52
+1
+local number)
2) New surcharge for calls made to mobile devices
Due to changes made by COFETEL, the telecommunications regulatory body in Mexico, effective November 4th, 2006, anyone placing a call to Mexico that will terminate at a mobile device will now be required to dial a “1” after the country code “52”. (Example: 011+52+1+local number).
International calls that terminate at mobile devices (wireless communications devices including phones, pagers, Personal Computers and Personal Digital Assistants) have a slightly higher per minute rate than calls that terminate to non-wireless communications devices. The International mobile termination charge is applied to certain direct dialed station international calls originating in the United States and terminating in countries or areas other then the United States (excluding Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam and CNMI).
