Features

  1. Does Digital Phone offer Voice Mail?

    Yes, we offer Voice Mail at $1.95/month to our Unlimited Nationwide Plan customers and $3.95/month to our Unlimited Michigan Plan customers. You can retrieve messages while you are away from home by dialing your phone number.

  2. Does Digital Phone include Call Waiting?

    Yes. Digital Phone includes Call Waiting at no extra charge, so you never miss an important call.

  3. How about Caller ID?

    Digital Phone includes Caller ID, so you can find out who is calling before you answer the phone.

  4. Can you tell me about Call Waiting ID?

    Digital Phone offers Call Waiting ID at no extra charge, so you can see the number of the caller before you click over to the other call.

  5. What about Call Forwarding?

    Yes. Digital Phone offers Call Forwarding, so you'll never miss a call again. This feature allows you to forward your phone calls to another phone number (for example, you can forward your home phone number to your cell number if you know you are going to be away from home).

    Cell phone usage charges may apply and also additional charges if you are calling out of our area.

  6. Does Digital Phone offer Speed Dial?

    Yes, Digital Phone offers Speed Dial, which provides you with the ability to program frequently, dialed numbers and enables them to be dialed using just one digit.

  7. How About Anonymous Call Reject?

    Digital Phone offers the option to block unidentified calls for as long as you chose by activating Anonymous Call Reject (ACR). When ACR is activated, incoming calls from unidentified callers, including those identified as "Anonymous" or "Unavailable", are automatically rejected. Unidentified callers will hear an announcement telling them to hang up, release their caller ID information and then redial the desired customer's number.

  8. Do you have calling cards?

    Not at this time. However, we are considering offering a calling card in the future.

  9. Will Digital Phone operate with Home Networking?

    Digital Phone will have no impact on Home Networking. There may be some equipment that must be exchanged and reconfigured, but our installer will manage all of that at the time of installation. Home Networking customers will continue using the Home Networking device along with the Digital Phone modem.

  10. Can I receive collect calls?

    Collect calling is not offered at this time, we are working on this feature and we hope to make it available soon.

  11. Can I use a calling card or a prepaid calling card for long distance calls?

    Yes. Bright House Networks does not offer a calling card service. You can use a prepaid calling card with Digital Phone, just as you can with any traditional telephone company. Calls made with another company's calling card must be billed separately and will not be part of your Digital Phone statement.

Voice Mail - General Questions

  1. How many rings before my calls go to Voice Mail?

    Calls will go to Voice Mail after 5 rings.

  2. How many call-waiting "beeps" will I hear before the call will go to Voice Mail?

    Calls will go to Voice Mail after 25 seconds, which is 2 or 3 beeps.

  3. How do I know if I have new Voice Mail messages?

    If you have a new message you will hear a stutter dial-tone (several quick "beeps" before the dial tone)when you lift your receiver.

  4. What Voice Mail greetings can I customize?

    You can record a custom greeting for All Calls, Unanswered Calls and Busy Calls.

  5. How long can a Voice Mail message be?

    Each message can be up to 180 seconds (3 minutes) in length.

  6. How long can a Voice Mail greeting be?

    Your Voice Mail greeting can be up to 180 seconds (3 minutes) long.

  7. What do I need to do to set up my Voice Mail?

    You need to log in to Voice Mail, establish a private PIN code, select a message or record a greeting.

  8. What is the default PIN for logging into Voice Mail?

    The last four digits of your telephone number.

  9. If I use Pin Skip, will my Voice Mail still be secure?

    With PIN Skip, you will no longer need to enter your Voice Mail PIN when you retrieve your Voice Mail from your home Digital Phone. This is a great time saving feature, but it does lessen the privacy and security of your Voice Mail. You can enable or disable the PIN Skip feature from the main Voice Mail menu.

  10. What should I select as my Voice Mail PIN?

    Any 4 numeric digits may be selected. The symbols (#) and (*) are not allowed.

  11. How many Voice Mail messages can I have?

    There is no limit to the number of messages, but your Voice Mail box is limited to a total 40 minutes of messages.

  12. What will happen when my Voice Mail box is full?

    If the mailbox is full and not accepting new messages, callers will hear, "Sorry (pause), cannot receive a message. This mailbox is full. To leave a message for someone else press 2."

  13. Can callers mark Voice Mail messages as urgent?

    Yes.

  14. How can I listen to my Voice Mail messages?

    There are currently two ways to listen to your messages:

    • While at home - Pick up your home line and call your home phone number. Follow the voice prompts that tell you how to listen to new messages.
    • While away from home - Call your home phone number from another phone (it must not be answered by someone at home). Press *5 when you hear the Voice Mail greeting. You will then be prompted to enter your 10-digit home phone number and 4-digit PIN.

Three-Way Calling

  1. What is a Three-Way Call? A Three-Way Call is the addition of a third party to an existing phone conversation.
  2. How do I initiate a Three-Way Call?

    1. On an existing call, briefly press the Flash button or switch hook. This places the first party on hold.
    2. When you hear the recall dial tone (three tones and then a dial tone), dial the telephone number of the third party (the person you want to add to the call).
    3. Press the Flash button or switch hook again, and then all three parties will be joined on the call.
  3. How do I get Three-Way Calling?

    Three-Way calling is available to all new or current Digital Phone customers. New customers will be given the option when they sign up for Digital Phone. Current Digital Phone customers can request Three-Way Calling by calling Customer Service at (866) 898-9101.

  4. How long after a current Digital Phone customer requests Three-Way Calling will that feature be active?

    Three-Way Calling will be available within 72 hours after the request is received.

  5. How will Three-Way Calling affect my service?

    When you are on a three-way call, your Call Waiting and Call Waiting Caller ID will not function. Additional incoming calls will go directly to your Voice Mail (or get a busy signal if you don't have Voice Mail service).

  6. Is it possible to make a three-way call by mistake?

    Yes. If you don't want to make a three-way call, be sure to hang up for at least two seconds between all calls until you hear a normal dial tone. If you don't hang up long enough, you will hear an intermittent dial tone and could place a three-way call by mistake.

  7. Is there a charge for Three-Way Calling?

    No. Three-Way Calling is available with your Digital Phone service at no additional change.

  8. Can one of the parties leave without ending the call?

    If either of the called parties hangs up the call continues with the remaining two parties. If the person who initiated the call hangs up during a three-way call, all parties are disconnected.

Repeat Dialing *66

  1. What is Repeat Dialing?

    Repeat Dialing is a feature that will allow you to automatically redial local calls when your first attempt reaches a busy number.

  2. How do I activate the Repeat Dialing feature?

    Once you make a call and receive a busy signal, you can activate Repeat Dialing by hanging up your phone, picking up the receiver again, dial *66, and then hang up your phone again.

  3. How long will the Repeat Dialing feature attempt to reach a busy number?

    The Repeat Dialing feature will attempt to reach the last called party for 30 minutes. Once the last called party’s line becomes available, the customer’s phone will ring and their call will be automatically connected to the called party’s line.

  4. Can I cancel Repeat Dialing?

    Yes. If you do not wish to wait the entire 30 minutes for Repeat Dialing to attempt to reach the last called party, you will have the opportunity to cancel the Repeat Dialing feature sooner. In order to cancel Repeat Dialing, you must pick up your phone receiver, wait for a dial tone and dial *86 to deactivate the feature.

  5. Will Repeat Dialing work if the caller is located in another state?

    Repeat Dialing will only operate for calls to landline phones within your local calling area.

  6. Will Repeat Dialing work for US or international long distance calls or calls to 8xx or 9xx? No. The Repeat Dialing feature will not operate for calls to US long distance (within state or out of state), international numbers, 8xx, or 9xx telephone numbers.
  7. Will Repeat Dialing work for calls to cell phones? No. Repeat Dialing does not work for calls to cell phones.
  8. Can I still use my phone to make and receive calls?

    Yes. You can continue to use your phone as normal to make and receive phone calls while Repeat Dialing is attempting to reach your last called party.

  9. Is there an additional fee to use the Repeating Dialing feature?

    No. The Repeat Dialing feature is included as part of Bright House Networks standard universal features for all Digital Phone customers.

  10. What happens if the last number called is busy for more than 30 minutes?

    If the last number called is busy for more than 30 minutes, the Repeat Dialing feature will automatically be deactivated.

  11. Can I use Repeat Dialing to place calls to more than one busy number at a time?

    Yes, although you must activate Repeat Dialing on a call-by-call basis.

  12. How often does Repeat Dialing attempt to reach the last party called?

    The Repeat Dialing feature will attempt to reach the last party called every 30 seconds for 30 minutes.

Call Return *69

  1. What is Call Return?

    Call Return is a feature that stores the number of the last person that called and will allow you to automatically dial the caller back.

  2. How do I activate the Call Return feature?

    In order to activate Call Return, you must dial *69. A voice recording will then provide you with the telephone number, date and time of the last caller and will provide you with an option to press “1” to automatically call the last caller back.

  3. What happens if I dial *69 and the last incoming call number is busy?

    If you call back a number that is busy by pressing “1”, the system will automatically continue to redial the number for up to thirty minutes. Once the receiver’s line is available you will hear a distinctive ring on your phone. You can then pick up the phone; the phone will ring the last call back number you are trying to reach and the call will be connected.

  4. What is a distinctive ring?

    A distinctive ring is a special short-short-long ring on your telephone line.

  5. Is there an additional fee to use the Call Return feature?

    No. The Call Return feature is included as part of Bright House Networks standard universal features for all Digital Phone subscribers.

  6. How can I cancel the *69 Repeat Dialing feature?

    If you do not wish to wait the entire 30 minutes to reach the last calling party to your phone number, you will have the opportunity to cancel the Call Return feature by dialing *89 at any time.

  7. Will Call Return work if the last calling party has Caller ID blocking turned on?

    No. The Call Return feature will not function if the caller has Caller ID blocked.

  8. Will Call Return work if the caller is located in another state?

    Call Return will only operate for calls to landline phones within your local calling area.

  9. Will Call Return work for US or international long distance calls or calls to 8xx or 9xx?

    No. The Call Return feature will not operate for calls to US long distance (within state or out of state), international numbers, 8xx, or 9xx telephone numbers.

  10. Will Call Return work for calls to cell phones?

    No. Call Return does not work for calls to cell phones.

  11. If the last calling party has forwarded their calls to a different number, can I still use the Call Return feature?

    No. The Call Return feature will not operate if the last calling party has forwarded their calls to another telephone number.

    Yes. You can still make and receive calls, a distinctive ring will signal when the last calling party line becomes available.

  13. When will the Call Return feature stop attempting to reach the last person that called?

    The Call Return feature will automatically deactivate after 30 minutes.
