Spiderman to Visit the Largest Indoor Kids Safety Event of its type in the Midwest on Saturday, September 22nd at Laurel Park Place

Livonia, MI, September 6, 2007 

The Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit and Department of Homeland Security, Livonia Police and Fire Departments, Northville Police & Fire Departments, Livonia Public Schools, along with a group of civic and corporate sponsors will be holding their fourth annual Passport to Safety Event on Saturday, September 22nd from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm to be held at Laurel Park Place in Livonia located at 37700 W. Six Mile Road.

In the face of escalating crimes against children and their families, Passport to Safety has become not only the largest indoor kids safety event of its type but also a convenient and important family day for all those seeking safety information and training from safety industry experts.

Passport to Safety provides the best possible safety information for families and their children." said Patrick Derrig, Marketing Director at Laurel Park Place. "Whether at home or school, disaster can strike at any time," said Allstate Agent Cheryl Bowker. "Passport To Safety provides a great opportunity for us to reinforce the importance of safety for young children and their families in an educational and fun setting."

Thousands of children will visit the eight safety stations throughout the mall to learn about important safety topics and have their passports stamped. The educational safety areas include Bike Safety (sponsored by Allstate & St. Mary Mercy), 911 Training (sponsored by Alpha Stamping), Computer Safety (sponsored by Bright House Networks), Automobile Safety (Allstate & St. Mary Mercy), Food Safety (St. Joseph Mercy), Choking/Poisoning (sponsored by Priority Health), Fire Safety (sponsored by Allstate), and Got 2B Safe (formerly Stranger Danger) (sponsored by St. John Providence).

In addition, Spiderman will be this year's featured entertainment, courtesy of Bright House Networks, where he will be available to meet and greet the children and their parents from 11am to 2 pm. Other forms of entertainment will include Buckle Up Bear, courtesy of the Michigan State Police, the Allstate Fire Dog, Fire Safety dress-up area where children can dress up as Firefighters and have their picture taken for a donation to the Selfridge National Air Guard Base, and various raffle prizes, including a family vacation package to Great Wolf Lodge.
