Brightening Homes and Hearts is a program of neighborhood clean-up projects. We have helped out for several years with the Rouge River areas. If there is someone you know in need that would benefit from our Brightening Homes and Hearts program or if you are a business that would like to get involved please contact us via email.
BHN plans to make our communities a safer place to live with the launch of a new neighborhood crime watch program. More than 100 BHN employees are being trained as part of operation "Bright Eyes" with the help of Crime Stoppers of Michigan. Read more in the the

Construction Project closes section of I-75 Freeway
Beginning Monday, February 25, 2008 until December 2009, the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will fully close a 1.5 mile section of the I-75 freeway from Rosa Parks Boulevard to Clark Street in Southwest Detroit.
The MDOT I-75 Ambassador Bridge Gateway Project is the largest project in MDOT history. It is a major economic development project connecting area freeways to the Ambassador Bridge and Detroit’s Mexicantown neighborhood.
The project includes:
- Reconstructing I-75 and I-96 freeways and creating a new interchange for the bridge and local access
- A state-of-the-art pedestrian bridge across I-75 and I-96 connecting
east and west Mexicantown in southwest Detroit
- A redesigned Ambassador Bridge Plaza that will improve safety and ease traffic flow
